St. - George's Mandilas
Kastraki has an old and rich history. Exist until now much customs, among which stands out the climbing with rope to the church of St. - George's Mandilas, which is (unfortunately accessible only to skilled climbers) in the ruins of the Monastery of St. Mandilas George. St. Nicholas or Bantova Kofinas At the entrance of Kastraki turn right following the road alongside the rocks of Meteora. After 500 meters turn right. The road leads to a plateau in front of the church of Panagia, the hermitage of St. Nicholas or Bantova Kofinas is carved in the rock cave. The Church of the Dormition of Virgin Mary The Church of the Dormition of Virgin Mary is a three-aisled basilica with wooden roof and three apses on the eastern side. The central aisle is higher than the flanking aisles. The building contains sequences of columns and piers (pillars) that divide the space giving the aisles. A three lobed arched opening (trivilon) comprises the main entrance to the central aisle from the inner narthex. The outer narthex is a later addition. Τhe Cave of Theopetra The Theopetra, is found to the west of National Road Ioannina-Trikala perched on a rocky hill. In the northeast a rocky limestone marker at "Muti" is the Cave of Theopetra. It is about 4 km from Kalambaka and has arched entrance, measuring 17 x 3 m approx.
